“November is the most disagreeable month in the whole year” – Louisa May Alcott
That’s one of my favorite quotes from Little Women. Just because it’s so true. This is literary genius at its best, guys.
But thankfully, I’m here to save the day with this free pattern: the crochet sunflower keychain! Because there’s nothing like a sunflower to make humans less bleak and miserable. Right?
However, you don’t need to be Jo March from Little Women to make this adorable accessory.
All you need is a little brown and yellow yarn and a size G crochet hook.
Oh, and a keychain ring.
Actually, this was originally supposed to be one of the sunflowers on my easy crochet sunflower wreath last month. But it didn’t quite have that quaint, elegant look that I wanted. Instead, it turned out looking bright, fun, and energetic. So instead of scrapping it, I slapped on a keychain ring and gave it to my sister for her backpack.
And now I dedicate it to you, my faithful followers. Have fun!
(P.S. I would love it if you followed me on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram and signed up for my email list!)

Pattern Notes:
-The basic idea is, you make two brown circles, sc them together, and stuff the middle. This is the middle of the sunflower. Then, with the yellow yarn, you work in the sc you just made to make the petals.
-The petals will naturally crumple up, so don’t freak out if it looks cramped!
-Rounds are continuous, do not join at the end of each round.
-Anything between the asterisks is repeated to the end of the round.
Middle of Sunflower:
Make 2:
With brown yarn:
Rnd 1) mc, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, pull shut.
Rnd 2) 2 sc in each stitch around.
Rnd 3) *1 sc, 2 sc in next* around.
Rnd 4) *1 sc in next 2, 2 sc in next* around.
With right sides facing out, sc the two circles together. Stuff the middle of the sunflower.
Switch to yellow yarn.
Petals:
Rnd 5) (sl st, ch 3) in each stitch around. Sl st to first sl st.
Rnd 6) (sl st, dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc, sl st) in each ch-3 space around. Sl st to first sl st.
Fasten off, weave in ends, and sew to keychain ring.
All done! If you have any questions, be sure to leave them in the comments!
